I’m Alyssa, a Certified Professional Midwife(CPM), Certified International Midwife(CIM), Licensed Midwife(LM), Board Certified Lactation Specialist(BCLS), and Doula. I am a Certified Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation provider, am Certifed in BLS CPR and have experience supporting over 1,000 births in multiple settings.
My husband and I are blessed with four amazing children, and our family joyfully includes our granddaughter and grandson, from our eldest daughter and son-in-law.
I have served as clinical faculty in Women’s Health and Obstetrics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine's PA graduate program.
Joining me in practice is Madison, my midwifery student. Madison, a married mother of five, is currently in midwifery school and gaining her clinical experience with us.
Our Doula and Birth Assistant, Jacqueline, is a married mother of one with extensive experience supporting families through the childbearing year, in both home and hospital births. In addition to supporting your birth, Jacqueline will provide you with a nourishing, minimally processed meal during your first few days postpartum.
I am a registered Midwifery student preceptor for NARM CPM and IRM CIM credentialing programs. We welcome midwifery students seeking skills sign-offs for NARM and IRM. Although we currently don't have availability for another full-time student, we are happy to assist with skills or temporary student education.
My experience extends to breastfeeding difficulties caused by birth trauma or infant anatomical abnormalities, including tongue tie, lip tie, high palate, and cleft palate. In the event that tongue/lip tie revision (Frenectomy) is needed for your baby, for nearly the last decade I’ve been in partnership with a local dentist in order to provide these laser treatments. This dentist is a former homebirth dad of our practice, is well versed in infant oral anatomy and how it relates to breastfeeding, facial development, airway, dental development and overall lifelong health.
I have advanced training in prenatal and perinatal psychology, integrative nutrition, clinical herbalism, and genetics/genomics, along with training and experience in vaginal breech and twin deliveries.
I hold extensive international midwifery experience and ensure I am always up-to-date through ongoing accredited continuing education.
Our practice provides you with access to an incredible homebirth supportive OBGYN and Certified Nurse Midwife, in order to provide seamless second opinion consultation and prescriptions if needed.
We share an office with a kind and skilled Family Physician in Cuyahoga Falls. We highly recommend her for family primary care, holistic well-baby and well-child exams, as well as Homeopathy and Osteopathic Bodywork.
Beyond Ahava Midwifery, I own a nutritional supplement company and serve as the Advocacy and Advancement Director of an international midwifery organization.
Please take a look at our Ahava Care Program that assists the local homeless community, and offers free and low cost prenatal/postpartum care and supplies to local families in crisis.
To ensure our practice remains sustainable and offers high-quality individual care, we operate on a sliding fee scale and accept a very limited number of births per month. If you are considering our service, please contact us for an interview as soon as pregnancy is confirmed.
Please feel free to contact us by email, we look forward to speaking with you!
